Dentistry, Board of

The mission of the Oregon Board of Dentistry (OBD) is to ensure that citizens of Oregon receive the highest quality oral health care. The OBD was created in 1887 and it administers the Dental Practice Act, makes rules and establishes standards for licensure and examinations of dentists and dental hygienists. The OBD regulates the use of anesthesia by licensees and certifies dental assistants in radiologic proficiency and other expanded functions.

The OBD is required to investigate alleged violations of the Dental Practice Act and may discipline licensees.

The OBD is supported solely by revenues received from licensees, including application, license, permit and certification fees, and does not receive any taxpayer funds.
