Bryant Park covered bridge
Abstract/Description: | Bryant Park Covered Bridge in Albany, Oregon. The 130-foot Howe Truss spanned the Calapooia River. The bridge was built circa 1924 and torn down in 1962. Covered spans with pedestrian walks are not uncommon in the East, but few have ever been built in the Far West. In this case, the open-sided pedestrian way accommodated foot traffic to Bryant Park. The Oregon Electric Railroad line passed by the west end of the bridge, and the Albany Ditch dropped into the Calapooia River near the east portal. |
