Abstract/Description: The purpose of this brief is to investigate and describe what we know about Oregon students who repeat Algebra I. This brief will look closely at the data that helps us understand when a student is most likely to repeat the course and other predictive factors that increase or decrease the likelihood of repeating the course. A number of associations are present, most notably the relationship between accelerating students in middle school and an increased likelihood that those students will end up repeating Algebra I, for all but the most high-achieving students.
