Abstract/Description: Interview with Barbara Roberts. Oregon Governor, 1991-1995. Barbara Roberts was inaugurated as Oregon's first woman governor on January 14, 1991, and completed her term in 1995. In this interview, Governor Roberts describes her years growing up in a small town in Oregon and how she became involved in public service. She candidly talks about her challenges and successes as a legislator, Secretary of State and Oregon's first woman governor. In addition, Governor Roberts recounts her experiences of coping with the illness and death of her husband, Senator Frank Roberts, and her life since leaving Governor's office.
